I've often been amazed by the brightness of the moon as it rises in late afternoon. In this painting I was imagining a mountain view with the moon rising above them and with traces of warm evening light illuminating the sky and mountains. I changed the moon a lot and finished the painting by making it a partial whitish shape. I wanted to keep the bands of colour with shapes and marks on top.
