This is the painting that was selected for the 7th Beijing International Art Biennale. I was one of 3 artists representing the UK in an exhibition of 98 countries and attended the official opening .
The theme of the BIAB was the Silk Road, with a free interpretation. I chose to make my painting like a huge piece of yellow fabric with various incidents and roads across it. The sky is like pieces of fabric blowing in the wind. I had to submit a sketch of my idea before being given the go ahead to paint the large version. I enjoyed playing with flat and illusionistic space and introducing figuration.
